Summer arrived in full force this week with some sweltering heat.

Now look, I can do heat. I lived in Havasu for a year, where the summers hit 125 degrees. And even in the San Fernando Valley, we got to at least 115 every year. But there was little humidity and lots of air conditioning.

Now that I live in a country that doesn’t believe in the spirit-healing power of A/C (get it together, Germany!), I get cranky at 85 degrees. And this 105 degrees is just absurd.

I have 2 saving graces this week: 1) an ice-pack strapped to my head (yes, literally) and 2) ice cold Summer Berry Sangria.

Thank You Summer Berry Sangria!

This summer berry sangria from Olivia’s Cuisine is sweet and refreshing, with just enough alcohol to help me care a little bit less about existing in a state of perma-glisten for days on end. And yes, mom, I’m drinking lots of water with it so I don’t get dehydrated.

Heatwave or not, you’re going to love this berry-packed sangria! It’s perfect for your 4th of July picnic, your beach vacation, or your many summer birthday parties. And because it’s lotsa berries, you get to spend less time cutting up your fruit and more time sipping away.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your Summer Berry Sangria:

  • Raspberries
  • Blackberries
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Moscato
  • Berry liqueur (strawberry or raspberry)
  • Raspberry lime seltzer

By the way, you can totally use plain ol’ vodka and seltzer water, but it’s worth going out of your way to get the berry flavors. They make this sangria something special.

Head over to Olivia’s Cuisine for the complete recipe.

And while you’re there, spend a little time perusing Olivia’s recipe collection. She’s got some killer Brazilian dishes, and I can’t stop gawking at her Ferrero Roche Trifle, which is so on my holiday menu for this year!

Enjoy!
